There are four valves within your heart two of them, the mitral on the left and the tricuspid valve on the right connect the collecting chambers (the atria) to the pumping chambers( the ventricles) while the other two, the aortic on the left and pulmonary on the right are placed between theA ventricles and the great arteries. The valves open in the forward direction and act as trapdoors making sure that blood flows in only one direction through the heart. Any change in this function can cause a strain on the heart and result in valvular heart disease. The valves are made of thin leaflets which can be two in the case of the mitral valve and three in the rest of them. These leaflets are thin and made of elastic connective tissue. They can be damaged by diseases and altered flow patterns. The leaflets are supported in their function by thin strands of tissue that hold the valve to the heart muscle, these are called the chords. Any shortening or lengthening in them can lead to improper functioning of the valves and leaks.

There are following kinds of surgery done for HEART VALVE REPLACEMENT SURGERY BANGALORE.

Ascending aortic replacement

Aortic arch replacement

Hybrid aortic arch and descending aortic replacement

Endovascular stent graft placement

Mitral valve replacement

Mitral valve repair surgery

Precautions for heart Diseases

Reducing cholesterol

Maintaining Weight

Healthy Diet

No Smoking/Drinking

Regular Exercise

The best doctor for HEART VALVE REPLACEMENT SURGERY BANGALORE are

Cardiovascular Medicine (Dr. A. Frequently, it is done to treat complications of ischemic heart disease (for example, coronary artery bypass grafting), correct congenital heart disease, or treat valvular heart disease created by various causes including endocarditis. It also includes heart transplantation.

Risk?

he development of cardiac surgery and cardiopulmonary bypass techniques has reduced the mortality rates of these surgeries to relatively low levels. For instance, repairs of congenital heart defects are currently estimated to have 4-6% mortality rates.

A major concern with cardiac surgery is the incidence of neurological damage. Stroke occurs in 2-3% of all people undergoing cardiac surgery, and is higher in patients at risk for stroke.[citation needed] A more subtle constellation of neurocognitive deficits attributed to cardiopulmonary bypass is known as postperfusion syndrome (sometimes called 'pumphead'). The symptoms of postperfusion syndrome were initially felt to be permanent, but were shown to be transient with no permanent neurological impairment.

Cardiac Surgery Top Destination in India

Bangalore is the top destination of India for Cardiac Surgery. It's sometimes called CABG ("cabbage"). The surgery reroutes, or "bypasses," blood around clogged arteries to improve blood flow and oxygen to the heart.

Why is this surgery done?

The arteries that bring blood to the heart muscle (coronary arteries) can become clogged by plaque (a buildup of fat, cholesterol and other substances). This can slow or stop blood flow through the heart's blood vessels, leading to chest pain or a heart attack. Increasing blood flow to the heart muscle can relieve chest pain and reduce the risk of heart attack.

Beating Heart Surgery

Beating heart surgery is a way to perform surgery without stopping the heart. Surgeons use a special device to stabilize the part of the heart on which they are operating. The heart continues to beat and circulate blood to heart muscle during the operation. Surgery on a beating-heart helps reduce the risk for complications associated with temporarily stopping the heart during surgery.

Minimal Access Bypass Surgery

The days of long incisions are slowly falling into oblivion. Coronary bypass surgery has been proved to be clearly longer lasting than angioplasty more so in diabetics as concluded by the BARI trial. Surgeons are now devising ways to make it as less invasive as possible. We do around 99% of our bypass surgery on a beating heart through small incisions. The different choices available are

Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

CABG is a heart surgery procedure in which one or more blocked coronary arteries are bypassed by a blood vessel graft to restore normal blood flow to the heart. These grafts usually come from the patient’s own arteries and veins located in the chest (thoracic), leg (saphenous) or arm (radial). The graft goes around the blocked artery (or arteries) to create new pathways for oxygen-rich blood to flow to the heart.

The goals of the procedure are to relieve symptoms of coronary artery disease (including angina), enable the patient to resume a normal lifestyle and to lower the risk of a heart attack or other heart problems.

Surgery Top Destination in India

Bangalore is the top destination of India for Bypass Surgery. It is not a major surgery. It is done by inflating a tiny balloon at the side of the block. In many patients a collapsed wire mesh tube called a stent is deployed at the site of narrowing. This acts as a scaffolding to help prevent it from renarrowing after the angioplasty.

During an angioplasty, also called percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty (PTCA), a guide wire is passed directly to the blocked vessel. A tiny, deflated balloon is passed through the catheter to the site of the obstruction. The balloon is inflated to compress the plague against the wall of artery, flattening it out so that blood can once again flow without obstruction. Since a balloon- tipped catheter is used, this is also referred to as a “balloon angioplasty “.

Description
Before the angioplasty procedure begins, you will be given some pain medicine. You may also be given blood thinning medicines to keep a blood clot from forming.

You will lie down on a padded table. Your doctor will make a small cut (incision) on your body, usually near the groin. Then your doctor will insert a catheter (flexible tube) through the incision into an artery. Sometimes the catheter will be placed in your arm or wrist. You will be awake during the procedure.

The doctor uses live x-ray pictures to carefully guide the catheter up into your heart and arteries. Dye will be injected into your body to highlight blood flow through the arteries. This helps the doctors see any blockages in the blood vessels that lead to your heart.

A guide wire is moved into and across the blockage. A balloon catheter is pushed over the guide wire and into the blockage. The balloon on the end is blown up (inflated). This opens the blocked vessel and restores proper blood flow to the heart.

A stent (wire mesh tube) may then be placed in this blocked area. The stent is inserted along with the balloon catheter. It expands when the balloon is inflated. The stent is then left there to help keep the artery open.

Risks

Angioplasty is generally safe, but ask your doctor about the possible complications. Risks of angioplasty and stent placement are:

Allergic reaction to the x-ray dye

Bleeding or clotting in the area where the catheter was inserted

Damage to a heart valve or blood vessel

Heart attack

Kidney failure (higher risk in people who already have kidney problems)

Irregular heart beats (arrhythmias)

Stroke (this is rare)

Allergic reaction to the stent material

Allergic reaction to the drug used in a drug-eluting stent

Blood clot

Clogging of the inside of the stent (in-stent restenosis)

Angioplasty Surgery Top Destination in India

Bangalore is the top destination of India for Angioplasty Surgery.
